What do we mean by Working Class?
In October 2009, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Working Class Student Union hosted Sherry Linkon, co-director of the Center for Working Class Studies at Youngstown State University, as their keynote speaker for Working Class Celebration Month. Linkon's talk addressed the challenge of defining "working class," how the field of working-class studies is integrating multiple disciplines and connecting academic work with activism, and how the field is working to draw attention to the perspectives and experiences of working-class students.
This is a portion of her presentation on "Why Class Matters in Higher Education".
